The secretariat of SAYAN is currently run by Prantakatha, a youth-led nonprofit organization based in West Bengal, India, that has been working on promoting active citizenship and creating an intersectional youth space since 2006.

The South Asian Young Queer Activist Network (SAYAN) is a regional platform that brings together young queer activists from South Asian countries to promote dialogue, exchange solutions, and create visibility for the gender and sexuality minority (GSM) community, with a specific focus on youth. SAYAN aims to foster connections and collaboration among LGBTQ+ activists and advocates in South Asia. It includes activists from Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, who have been actively involved in working with the GSM community in their respective countries.
